As shared previously how one (aromatherapy) product can be applied in various ways [1]
Some recent records of aromatherapy uses in life with further discoveries:
Mix-and-Match Discoveries
(i) Made an Aromatherapy Gel previously [2] - as this product contains only aloe vera gel and hydrosols, it is also suitable for use as a toner. So I had an idea of combining uses with my existing hydrosols-only Facial Toner [3] - using the gel one as morning toner and the existing one as evening/night toner
Gel: Aloe Vera Gel, Hydrosols (Lavender, Calendula)
Toner: Hydrosols (Witch Hazel, Rose, Lavender)
With the incorporation of gel into hydrosols, evaporation feels slower after spraying onto face (when environment becomes drier), which was a pleasant surprise discovery
(ii) Some amazing uses of German Chamomile Hydrosol with its anti-inflammatory support:
Had a pimple with acute hives near the left eye a few months ago. Gently applied this hydrosol using cotton pad to the affected area. Hives soothed within a few hours (1-2h)
Had itchiness on left upper eyelid recently. Rinsed eyes with water the first time with very mild relief, had to go rinsing again next. Then realised something like "stye" seemed about to pop - immediately sprayed this hydrosol onto cotton pad and gently applied onto affected area. Itchiness soothed instantly, and the "stye"-like gradually faded
This occurred again a few days later. As this hydrosol was used up, Lavender Hydrosol was applied, which also helps in soothing irritation and inflammation. Itchiness also soothed, and the "stye"-like gradually faded over sleep and the next day. Was also a great support in the healing. Gratitude to both of them!
With the product approaching its expiry date, it could be used in ways such as foot baths. Used whatever was left then in my aromatic foot bath. A cooperation and harmony of the hydrosol with the existing essential oils and salts in the new recipe I recently formulated, practising and experiencing. Apart from its anti-inflammatory support, referencing from previous learning that this hydrosol also supports "calming and balancing to the autonomic nervous system". The foot bath also welcomed the aroma of the hydrosol into the existing blend. (A form of diversity + creativity merging with the existing recipe)
(iii) Some ways to use essential oils (EOs) that are not able to be used to make products but are within their shelf life (e.g., due to accidental mixing up of caps):
In cleaning products
Passive diffusion
Adding one drop (or a few drops if needed, depending on purpose + aroma intensity intended) to kitchen towel or tissue paper, then leave on the bench/in the bin
Environment (e.g., Kitchen, Bathroom) smells amazing to me
Aroma lasting period depends on the volatility of EOs
(iv) Unknowingly had a scratch on collarbone:
First applied German Chamomile Hydrosol using cotton pad on the fresh mark, then applied the Body Oil made previously [3] to the spot before sleep
Over the next few days:
Applied the oil to the affected spot during morning and night
Scratch healing and mark fading gradually
With thanks and appreciation to the skin-supporting / vulnerary-supporting EOs + carrier oils used
Grateful to be surrounded by and living with so many loving plants (in the form of their EOs, hydrosols, carrier oils, gels, etc.), connecting with their wisdom, and engaging with pleasant and nourishing aromas in life
